Sex Worker Professional Development Fund Announces 2024 Grant Awardees

OTTAWA, ONTARIO:

The Sex Worker Professional Development Fund (SWPDF) is proud to announce Annie Temple and River Campbell as the inaugural recipients of the 2024 grant. Their proposals demonstrated significant potential for professional growth and positive impact on the sex worker community in Canada.

Annie Temple, a veteran of the adult entertainment industry since 1997, has explored various facets including in-person work, modeling, content creation, and writing. Her experience and dedication have made her a prominent figure in the field. The grant will help Annie expand her reach through wider distribution of her book, workshops, and mentorship.

Annie stated, “I’m honored to be a recipient of the Sex Worker Professional Development Fund. This initiative highlights the capacity and compassion within our community and supports our professional and entrepreneurial endeavors.”

River Campbell, an Ottawa-based activist and sex worker with nearly a decade of experience, plans to use the grant to become a licensed reflexologist. This will enable her to offer sex work-focused workshops and reduced-cost sessions for at-risk groups.

River expressed, “I’m overjoyed to be selected for the PD Fund and look forward to giving back to the local sex-worker community through skill-sharing and workshops. The PD Fund will help advance my professional skills both within and outside of sex work.”

A SWPDF rep echoed sentiments, “The Advisory Committee felt these two applicants exemplify the perseverance, ambition, and resilience of sex workers across the country and we look forward to supporting their ongoing contributions to the industry.

The Sex Worker Professional Development Fund (SWPDF), was established in 2024 by and for Canadian sex workers to support professional advancement through grants, mentorship, and guidance. The fund is inclusive of all genders, ages, affiliations, and sex work activities, and seeks to raise awareness of sex work as a valuable and valid form of labor.
